The tie rod boot got damaged using a pickle fork. I have some replacement boots, but I can’t seem to get the ring that holds the tie rod boot on. I fought with it for a bit, but am I better off just getting a new tie rod end?

Looks like that is cheap Chinese junk. So yes you would be better off with a quality tie rod end.

It’s a new end, but I have no idea of the brand. Moog is $34. Maybe I will change it then.

If they are not proud enough to display their logo or name you can bet its bottom basement Chinese junk.

Not going to help you now, but for the future, buy a tie rod puller. Maybe even a Pittman arm puller too. Pictures are for reference only. Buy good quality units.

I know, I could have borrowed it from Autozone, but I usually can do it without damaging the boot. It has a small tear on the top. So I figured I would just replace it.
