Timing chain cover timing indicator

Thanks, AMX.
That's kind of along the lines of what I was
planning on doing.

Simple. Done this more than a few times. Get a piece of fairly stiff wire. About the diameter of a clothes hanger wire. Back off a timing cover bolt, wrap that wire around it. Maybe 320° around. Bend that wire, keeping it tight against the cover. Nice 90° bend when you get to the damper. Keep the wire no more than 1/8" off the damper. Cut off excess wire then sharpen to a point. That's your new tab.

Thanks for the explanation, but the problem
is, I can't see the timing mark tab. It's covered
by the hose inlet on the water pump. I can
see 1/2 of the TDC mark on the balancer.
It's a guess as to the timing degrees.
Put a mark on the water pump housing just above the zero. Then mark 5 or 10 or any other number u like. Then u can use an adjustable timing light to set the timing. Kim
