Tire Brand Opinions

The front tires on my 72 rr GTX are shot so obviously I need to replace them. Here's what I'm running right now:

Front - Goodyear Eagle GT II P235/60 R15
Rear - Goodyear Eagle ST P255/60 R15

I know the STs aren't made anymore. From the searching I've done on the GT IIs it looking like they aren't made in that size and longer (if I'm wrong please tell me where to get them).

I definitely want raised white letters and would like to stick with Goodyear, but im open to changing brands. What do people run and what are your thoughts and suggestions? Polyglas repros, BFs, firestone, Cooper? Something else? My car is my love to my fiancé's dismay, but I enjoy her and drive her as much as I can during the season.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

After running Goodyears for 20 years, I switched to Cooper Cobras. Good ride and handling. RWL's too.

I prefer to run matching front/rear tires, not in size but in brand/style markings. Since neither your front or rear are avail I would find the tires that I like the best that come in both front/rear sizes, purchase the front now and buy the matching rears later. If the rears won't be needed will soon I might just go ahead and buy all four just for the sake of having every thing match. Tirerack.com is a good place to enter your staggered sizes and come up with brands that are available in your choice.

Firestone has them avalabile,Firestone Firehawk Indy 500.They are a little pricey,about the same price as Good Year.235/60R15 Part#119741/255/60R15part# 119768.

Cooper Cobras were recommended to me, I've been very happy with them so far. Handling good, raised lettering looks tough. Granted, I haven't run them in the rain, but why would I drive my pride & joy in wet weather anyway?

I always liked bfg ta's. but they getting a little hard to find in 295s (on my mopar). I have had good luck with the cooper cobras. I used to run them on a nasty little 56 chevy pickup. I loved doing donuts at 4 way intersections...

BFG's all the way but Coopers are good to go also.

Firestone/Bridgestone are non-union and they are called goodyear for a reason, good for a year.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I love the Goodyear STs but good luck finding them. My rears are surprisingly still in good shape too. The GT IIs upfront have been crap. I think im leaning towards the BFGs, then Indy 500s, then Cooper Cobras.
