What info can you learn about a car from the title ? I was told that the last digit on the title number is how many owners the car had. Is that right ? Some of my dads titles have the last digit on the title number as 1.

Not sure which vehicle you are dealing with but....From the first 7 digits on a mopar, you should be able to decipher the body style, year and model number and factory location. The last 6 numbers are the build sequence.

How many owners in the past. Date of originally titled. What states in the past it was titled in. What ever other info you can learn from it

The title will not give you any info as to how many owners or what states titles were in. You would need a paper trail for any of that info.

In NJ, there was/is a spot on the Title that indicates how many times it has been retitled in NJ.

This is true for titles after a certain date for PA. It also starts at 1 if the car was never titled in PA before. The R/T I picked up last year has always been in PA and the last title was 1979. That title did not use the numbers like the ones today. When I got my new title it's now 1. Oldest title I've seen in PA with numbers was from the 90's, so not sure when the numbers started.
