Got up Friday morning and headed out on a 800 mile round trip from Virginia Beach to York Pennsylvania (51st annual NSRA street Rod Nationals East) and (17 annual Shively dealership Mopar show in Shippensburg) to shake down and break in Tremec TKO and 470 stroker. Car ran great! 5 hour trip to York ended up taking 7 hours due to DC traffic on I95. When I was cruising temp rock solid at 185, sitting in stop and go traffic for two solid hours temp stayed at 205, (stock cooling system). RPM’s at 75 mph were 2,600. RPM’s at 80 were 2,800, I can’t say how nice it was to cruise at 75-80 and not get passed by every soccer mom driving a minivan. Disregard the photo with speedo at a 100mph, it’s off by 20mph, Silver Sport is sending correct one. Just need to finish up A/C system before Carlisle trip and I’ll have a rock solid long haul hotrod with a 560 hp 644 ft pnds or torque engine that got 15.5 mpg! Glad all went well for you, and once again the factory stock cooling system works.

Yes it does, the real test will be with A/C running on a 100 degree day in traffic, the 383 I took out would sit in traffic with A/C on at 215-220 but really never affected it.

Looks beautiful - Very clean

What’s the details on the build , cam , heads intake carb ignition etc. etc.

Thanx

470 stroker kit from 440 source, Edelbrock performer rpm heads, full roller engine, Edelbrock performer rpm intake, Edelbrock AVS2 850cfm carb, TTI headers, FBO complete ignition set up ( coil, ignition module, distributor) I have to look up cam specsIMG_6417.jpegIMG_6425.png

Thanx - Great numbers
Interesting on the 5282 RPMs - Did power drop off considerably or

Any work on the Edelbrock 800 AVS2 or left factory stock with jets/metering rods

It was a nice curve, slow decline, I need to track down the sheet. We left the carb alone for now, I wanted to get a good tune once everything was together, FBO ignition, full exhaust, timing etc. I figured we could fine tune after break-in? My dyno guy said he could probably squeeze another 20 horsepower by changing metering rods, but I was satisfied by how good it runs now

Nice. Thanks for the update. Beyond shakedown! Thanks for reminding us to avoid 95.

The current Edelbrock calibration is probably why you got 15.5mpg. if the buttometer is happy leave it be!
5th gear is great!

It’s such a big difference going from a stock 383 auto, I’m very happy. At least I know I have room to faster….lol

Found the run sheets, I’ve never had an engine on dyno before so not sure I understand all this.
