Sorry to hear that, real bummer.Thank you very much for this. My best bud Levi passed away on thursday night. He was perfectly fine when he woke up, but didnt want to eat breakfast and threw up a couple times. I knew something was wrong so i took him to the vet. Blood work said his liver enzymes were way off. Did an ultrasound and they said his gallbladder was about to burst and had to remove it and hed be fine. When they opened him up they found most of his organs were riddled with cancer. Went to move his liver out of the way and it crumbled in their hands. Thats where it started and had spread to most of the rest of his little dachshund body. There was nothing they could do, finish the surgery and wake him up so we could put him to sleep or put him to sleep while he was still under anesthesia.... said he didnt even know he was sick. Just was nauseous that day because his enzymes were off. That was a shitty day.
Our Husky mix is 18. She's slow and deliberate, but I can tell she still has the drive and spirit. We rescued her when she was 8, did major ACL surgeries on both rear legs at 12, and have had the joy of her company for another 6 years. She can't go forever, but is still always happy to great us, and even was trotting one day last week. We love our "Trinny-Boo". She's got the best over-all personality of all the Huskies we've had the pleasure to rescue[except a ferocious prey-drive], but I believe she's just a great mix. She's our "hillbilly Husky".

14 is old for a Lab. For what it's worth my Labs vomit regularly, although it's because they like to eat gross things when they go outside. We are nursing an almost fourteen year old Labrador. He's fine, except for age related ills, but he vomits at times. The vet wants to do blood and ex-ray tests, which are expensive. Were not heartless, but he's well over his expected age, and it would just be useless to put him through any surgeries. He's on meds for the vomiting, the second round of them.
