Lots of great deals on Facebook Marketplace. Now weeding out the real deal is another. Hell I've even done "can you ship that and I'll Paypal you the funds". Now that said... you need to use your Spidy senses...

Start by telling him that you have a brother in Odessa that can come and get the parts and see what his response is.

The first thing I do is look up their profile on Facebook , if there is one ….if there isn’t , that’s already a concern. I just look for anything suspicious. Not a foolproof method but a start.
