Too much Barrett Jackson today....

It is a must do at least once. But remember it a "Dog and Pony Show." Prices never make sense.Some go for a good bargain and others get stupid money. I saw a custom 4 door 57 Chevy,purple with flames,nothing special get $115,000(maybe the fuzzy dice had something going for it)and a very nice 71 GTX after it bring only $68,000.

I'm starting to think every single 05/06 gt has been through B-J or Mecum at least three times.

IIRC the 65 malibu ss was a super rare z16 car.

Interesting the Super Birds brought more money than the Daytona.

...and as usual, after the 44th corvette with uninterrupted coverage, they go to commercial when three in a row Mopars come to the block.

The sold sticker chick has put on a few pounds and lost some hair, but still is a highlight to the other eye candy in the view of her normal station. I think someeone has gotten wise to this because with this auction, there was a LOT more coverage of her and more close shots and more time on those shots. IIRC I commented on this "value add" a couple years ago.
 
I just want to go for the spectacle of it . To see the size of it and view all the cars in the show and shine areas as well as some auctioning .
Don't think I'll buy anything but you never know , like you said prices seem ridiculous .
Some friends and I were actually discussing going to one last week .

Watch the live stream on the internet no commercials two feeds the auction and a post stage show where they look over the cars only problem is the girl who reads the script knows nothing at all about cars .
 
did anyone see the white superbird lot 1430. that was an auto with the 4 speed transplant, it showed the torque box on the passenger side, all i could see was the ruff looking rocker with a bondo crack in it, think it went 250,000 plus. anyone got a pic of that on a dvr? maybe I'm wrong.

Didn't see it auction off though ..
 
I've watched some of it but can't stand the babbling. Some nice looking cars but way too many restomods as well as fords & vetts. Would be nice if there was a Mopar only auction.

Way too many Tri-fives and Gen 2 better.
Haven't seen as many Rustangs this time around, but as usual too few on the 68-70 B-bodies

That used to drive me nuts until I just stopped watching, at least Mecum is a little better but the same thing seems to happen on their end as well.


I was never in this hobby for they Money. Having buckets (of money) at your disposal to buy something "brand new" and complete is great, but all the headaches, setbacks and frustration will pay off if you can just keep pushing forward to the end.

At least that's what I tell myself so I must be in love...
 
The year I was there, a guy was auctioning off 53 cars from his personal collection.
I can't even fathom how much money this guy must have.I was told he spends about 80 to 100 million every auction year in Scottsdale.

Wouldn’t work. There’d be no bidders. Mopar guys don’t want to pay for anything. They all want something for nothing, it must be in mint condition (so they can sell it for true market value) and somebody else pays the fees, taxes, transportation, shipping, etc.

Yep. Too cheap when selling. Too expensive when buying and the market is gonna tank soon....

Auctioneer is too noisy, prices are insane, bunch of rich drunks throwin money around....sounds like a ladies aid meeting around here....

Gotta admit when they do the charity vehicles those drunk rich guys really step up to the plate...
 
Mopar auction. They tried for several years at the Vegas MATS show. 64 Post hit the nail on the head. No sale unless the owner was willing to give the car away.They quit it after 3 years. Cars that did sell were 2 to 3,000 dollars max. In 3 years about 10 cars actually were sold.

Seen it. A couple of Craigslist ads, seller asking $20k for a car and claim, " these cars bring $30k on Barret Jackson". Problem was, the worn out, rusted, non-numbers matching car would need $20k worth of work. So with $40k invested; would probably only sell in the high teens.

Resto-mods seems to be where it's at as far as collector cars go. Somebody on this thread said, " probably never even flared a brake line in their life." That's probably true. They've got all that money but, don't want to mess with carburetors and "old technology". They want to turn the key and have it running instantly and throw it in gear and go, with the A/C going full blast. They actually prefer a modern computer driven 5.7 hemi or whatever.

all i remenber is the black hair and black leather *** , a black Cuda ragtop with a Hemi go for 55k , and that kissable huggable black leather ***, Amy Sparks Assitter used to hide her big wide butt, maybe thats why Craig Wondrous Jackson's fired her!
My buddy went once, took his son to see the show, said one parking lot was full of RVs all running , and another lot was just transport rigs. They steal your car if you are a nobody by running it through the auction real fast and keep theirs up there forever , using the effects of alcohol to their advantage. Yesterday Craig was boasting 150 million$ in sale , and had to refuse 1500 cars that wanted in ! No shortage.

That black pleather *** had my full attention all week. I'd love to go and sit right there just to watch her right on stickers all week.

But yeah, stupid rich dudes with no common sense and probably couldn't change the oil in most cars they bid on paying way too much for them.
Still would be fun to go see it, have some beers, and smoke a good cigar!
Damn Chevy brings some cash though
 
You never know. A few years ago Mustangs were the hot ticket.
