I can't choose, but I can put a few more names on the thread :)
I do agree with people saying Prince. Most people think of his stage personality and his singing, but the guy could shred.

I am a huge fan of Uli

Back in the 70's when he was playing with Klaus Meine and the boys. If you can't recall where you heard of Uli from yet.....
These guys were pioneering the new sound in that era and Uli was a big part of it.

I've always liked all of the Scorpions music since the first time I saw them in 1980 - whether it be the stuff with Ulrich Roth or Mattias Jabs (and also Michael Schenker). There's an amazing difference in musical styles between those two eras of the band (With Roth and After Roth). Most people wouldn't realize it's the same band if you played them a tune from each era. I enjoy both eras.

I like to listen to classical guitar on occasion also. I know that hasn't been on the theme of this thread necessarily, but there are artists out there in this genre thta rarely get recognized.
My personal favorite is John Feeley. He has the talent to play some of the most challenging classic pieces flawlessly, and his traditional pace and volume is my preference.

Of all time, Andres Segovia is likely the most skilled. I do find some of his renditions feel rushed, but that is personal preference.

Classical guitar is not everyone's cup of tea, but I like it time to time as I find it very soothing background music while I do other things, and reclining on the couch, closing my eyes this can let me take my mind off of other things as well.

you can't beat the scorpions for synchronized guitar parts with such an awesome tremolo on the bends! not sure if they could accomplish it live "no one like you" has some wild pulls that you have to use an .009 E string, i practice it all the time of course doesn't matter if i break a string jambing but you certainly don't want that happening live!
