Submit & I went to see the the new Top Gun movie yesterday at the Tuesday 6 buck bargain matinee & since we had a gift certificate, it didn't cost us anything.

Of course there is one cocky character in the movie that you want to smack the smirk off his face and there is a fair amount of Tom Cruise showing his famous smile. Overall, it was a pretty good movie with a lot of good flying scenes.

They also gave out these sunglasses with the ticket purchase...

Saw a behind the scenes about making the first one and how "interesting" it was to work with the US Navy.

Mary and I went last week.
It was a great time. The flight scenes were fun. You'd have to get a huge thrill being a fighter pilot! The rumble, the vibrations....it reminds me of two reasons why gas powered cars are so much fun. EVs will never compete with that.
Cruise is a wacko....that is an established fact but he is a good actor.
They did a great job of integrating the old with the new. Cruise seems to age like wine too. There was NO way that Kelly McGillis would have been asked back considering her appearance. Sad to see Val Kilmer fade out so much. He was fantastic in Tombstone.
Another thing...We NEED our military members to be confident. There is no room for limp wristed losers with self doubt in the Military.

Knock off Raybans?

$6 tickets & free $5 (? Chinese) glasses,
not the best business move on their part

I will see it, when it hits cable in another month or 2 (3 ?)

thanks for the revue RC

Mrs. 64BEL and I went to see it and liked it a lot. We're glad we saw it on a huge screen. The actors actually rode in real fighters while filming - rented from the Navy for $11k/hour. The actors weren't allowed to touch the controls. We saw the original Top Gun when we were dating in '86.

I saw it this week and thoroughly enjoyed it. Cruise definitely more subdued this time around. At the end when they fired up the P51 my immediate thought was "i could watch another two hours of that magnificant machine flying around" The jets are impressive but nothing gets me going like a piston engine flying machine. Biggest debate for me is whether the radials or v inlines sound better.

There are a few times in a person’s life where the theater is the ONLY way to see a movie. This is one of those times.

We saw it again yesterday on the big screen. Great movie. Jennifer is still hot even after getting deflated sometime after she was in Mullholland Falls. We wanted to see it before its out for awhile and the studios/theatres decide to cut it down. When I saw The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, after being out for a couple of weeks they got trimmed down. If you have access to one of the theaters with the lounge or recliner seats, go.

One of the women at my Electrical Supply shop went with her husband on the first weekend.....and they loved it. They also saw the first one at the cinema (thecthater) ....and she was raving about how great the movie is. Sounds like fun.....but I'm not really keen on dropping $150 for the family to go and get arse-burn, and eat over-priced popcorn.

Besides.....

Every time I hear the original theme song by Kenny Loggins, I think of this.....

we went to the drive in and saw it. Had a blast. Wish Ed Harris had a bigger part. And Merlins are fantastic...but you can't beat the sound of a P&W R2800.
