Torque converter stall speed question...

No I didn't off course. I will buy TKO600, that's the answer :)

Well, it's really like comparing apples to oranges. A 3 speed automatic to a 5 speed overdrive. Again, it depends on your intended usage, whether or not you want to shift it and how much money you're willing to spend. Your choice. Have fun with it whatever you choose...

shone190:

I've run a 2800 stall convertor behind a 505 stroker for 3 years....to answer your questions:

1) No, you will not experience much, if any, worse fuel economy with the 2800 convertor. Mine cruises at a normal 2600 at 60 mph with no slip under light load with 3.73 gears.

2) The 2800 stall convertor will be much faster from a stoplight because it allows the engine to flash to 2800 where it makes considerably more power than it would at 1200 rpm.

Hope this helps.

And as has been said before, just because it says '2800 stall' on the package does not mean it will do that in your car. My 2500 stall converter behind my low compression 413 will stall totally differently behind splicer's stroker. You NEED to talk to a converter manufacturer.

I'm having a hard time understanding the continues drive behind "in town gas mileage" in a classic car that has a STROKER HP engine?????? Especially when referencing a TORQUE CONVERTER.......
Sorry,,, I just don't get it..

The stall or lock up is related to the applied power
if you put the 2800 stall behind a slant 6 it will be like a 2000 stall
and behind a 707 HP hellcat about 3500
you need to find your light throttle cruise RPM and have the converter locked up or close to it and still be able to let the motor rev when you stand on it the manufacturer will be able to get you close
