How long should the transmission dip stick be for a 66 dodge charger automatic with 318?

I dont have an "in inches" answer for you, but if you have the tube housing in-hand, the stick will protrude about 3/4" of an inch below it when fully inserted, IIRC. The full level on a 727 trans is pretty much at the overflow of the dipstick tube hole at the trans case when full if you understand what i mean.

Thanks, but that doesn't really answer my question. My dipstick has a bolt attached to the end, welded or something. I have always filled the fluid to the fill line but get fluid leaking on the ground. It has occurred to me that maybe it is the wrong length dip stick and maybe i am over filling it causing the leak. That's why I want the length. The tube is still attached.
TIA

Just happen to have a 727 hanging in the air...

I just filled my 727 and now some fluid is leaking out, is that O ring easy to change? Do I need to take out some fluid first?
The o ring is really easy to change.
Don't forget to remove the bolt up higher on the bell housing.
But you need to use the correct one made for oil contact

You can run it briefly in neutral and jack up the passenger side fairly high and quickly change it.
I don't think you would lose much.
