904 transmission is about 25 lbs lighter then the 727 and it doesn't take as much horsepower to turn the 904, so that is a bonus. With the parts available you can build a stout 904 that can handle 600 horsepower with no problems. I have a friend with a 408 stroker that make 471 HP and 498 Torque and he has a 904 transmission and he drives the heck out of it. He's been driving that car for 5 years since he installed the 408/904 combination and has had no problems with the 904.
