Gonna see the “kids in Port Orange near Daytona. Any recommendations for Lodging? Can’t stay with the kids cause they can’t control the ******* dogs. Animal lover, but sheesh. Not looking for cheap, doesn’t have to be on the beach. Need safe parking for Hellcat. Then head north to Georgia for Christmas. Looking for suggestions, stuff to do. History, Museums, Mansions, boat excursions etc. Kayaking days are over.
Spending down the kids inheritance, and fearing the RMD’s. First World problems.

A little out of your way, but the Muscle Car Museum in Alexander City Alabama and the Talladega Museum in Talladega, Alabama. Probably need appointments at both for anything but weekends.

Have you looked into things like AirBnB? Lots of nice neighborhoods down that way, I'm sure some are "seasonal" homes.

St Augustine is beautiful, about 1h north of Daytona up the coast. And you can still drive on the beach there!

It'll be chilly, it is NORTH Florida. I don't know when you're headed down. But if you like live music there's a cool venue called Cafe Eleven in St Augustine that has some real good blues acts come through. I will be there for Thanksgiving, and can scout stuff if you want, just let me know. I may also be there early Dec...a buddy of mine is playing Cafe eleven on 12/4, and I have to work in Miami starting 12/10....so I may go down a week early. Undecided.

Check rental condos if you are off season. Peak is Jan 1 to April 1 anything during that time plan ahead. We have stayed at them at Daytona and near Orlando. Ormond Beach is a nice quiet area above Daytona. Check with campgrounds some have nice little cabins now to stay in.

The Villages does a great classic car show on the third Saturday afternoon of every month that always attracts hundreds of cars (weather permitting). If nothing has changed (since I last attended) it would be in the Spanish Springs Town Center starting about 3 PM.

I was going to suggest the aquarium in Atlanta until I remembered the theft rate of modern Challengers and Chargers.

I'm sure you have probably been before, but Don Garlits museum is an easy way to kill a day. Looks like it is 1 1/2 hours from Daytona.

Don Garlits Museum
Tim Welborn's Muscle car Museum in Alabama

St Augustine is very nice in the winter. I would Stay over on Anastasia Island . I personally think its a little quieter
Been there dozens of times as wife has family in the area.

There are some good restaurants and great sites to see on St George St
Take the guided walking tour of the town at nite, Its pretty cool and lots of info to take in
The ocean is gonna be damn cold this time of year though
