I made it out to a Private Track rental at the other local drag strip ( Grand Bend, Ontario )

This track is well known to be the better of the 2 local.

I had plans on trying so many different things as far as tuning, but as I got going I just wanted to work on my technique. I did change tire pressure back up to 30 lbs, and I have added clamps to rear leaf springs since last time out. Also I have installed a line lock system and was doing burnouts this time around. Finally I also started shifting manually.

I noticed my tach acted much differently when i started to shift manually. In drive it climbs consistently but when I was shifting it manually its seemed "jumpy" the best I can describe it, I did my best to shift at 5300RPM.

Times as follow

60ft 2.143 2.147 2.047 1.964 2.161 2.014

1/8 8.910 8.774 8.555 8.473 8.656 8.501

MPH 81.25 81.80 82.91 83.21 83.41 83.11

1/4 13.74 13.58 13.31 13.22 13.38 13.24

MPH 101.93 102.7 104.32 104.31 105.22 104.83

So my new personal best is 13.22 @ 104.31 with a 1.9 60ft

The 105.22 MPH pass I actually spun off the start. I was able to launch the car a lot better, but still rolling into it , to much and I spin. There was actually a decent headwind at the track as well , not sure how much that effected things.

I couldn't seem to find the track on the dragtimes website for the corrected ET.

But I think with a bit more tuning and practice I can hit that 13.0 I have been looking for !!

Hey thats great. I know once I went racing I was hooked for life. Tell us all about the car and the combo if you dont mind as I love to hear about everyone's combo. As for your tach I can tell you I am one of them racers who hardly ever looks at my tach. I usually always shift by feel and eng sound. But thats just me as I race a few cars that did not even have a tach in them. Ron

The engine is a very mild 440

The car is 68 dodge charger RT . Been in the family since 69 . It all numbers matching except the rad has been swapped for an aluminum and obviously some headers , intake and carb. But I have all the original parts sitting in the basement.

Transmission is the factory 727 with a kit 2500 stall. Factory 3.23 gears .

Its really a fun car to drive and gets A LOT of looks and.comments . Hoping to try some slicks next year and can post in the "12 sec. " section !
