I installed the DMT “D” trunk gasket for a 73 charger se. The trunk lid won’t close as it is too thick/high. What is another option? I think up to 72 used the “Y” type. Would that work on a 73? Thanks

I suggest you contact DMT and ask them about the gasket. Jim and the staff are very approachable. ( If you haven’t already done so).

D shaped? That’s not the correct one for 73/74 at least.

I removed from my car the factory one and it was like the Y shaped. But must say my car was not assembled in USA (if that could make a difference, what I think not)

The ”D” style reproductions are too tall and won’t compress as the original '72 and up “D” styles, use the ’71 and earlier “Y” style if you want the trunk to close. Yes, it will work for a '73. Been there, done that.

Thank you all for the feedback. I ordered the Y style and will see how it fits.

The Y style I bought locally in Venezuela by a local weatherstrip supplier and manufacturer, was thicker on the “bottom” part of the Y and the Y “arms” were a bit shorter from the DMT piece. At least from what I can see on the DMT website. It made to fit a bit tight when closing, but still not hard to close the lid… untill got somehow seasoned.
