G'day guys,

just curious......how does the trunk light in a 71 Charger actually turn off ?

I found my trunk light disconnected and stuffed inside the trunk lid frame, probably put there when someone was painting and wanted it out of the way, but forgot to put it back. There's a wire it connects to near the rear seat (in the trunk), and the light works, but how does it turn off ? There doesn't seem to be any switch or anything.

My car has the "Lighting Package", which got me looking for the trunk light. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,

Peter

The lamp socket incorporates a sensor that determines when the lid is open or closed. Some under hood lights have the same feature. My '72 Satellite Sebring Plus has the trunk light. As soon as I close it part way down, I can spot the light turn itself off.

My trunk light turns off around 1 feet before close the lid.

Bracket can be bent a bit if you want to turn on higger or lower

This kind of switch must be a problem in San Francisco CA LOL

Thanks mate.......I'll have to stick my head under and make sure. Here's hoping.

Peter
