I have a 74 Roadrunner and am looking for a good car stereo to put in the dash. It had an older twin post style in it before. It doesn't look like an new din mount style will fit. Does anyone have any ideas?:eusa_think:

I would put a "wanted radio" in the parts thread here, Maybe someone here has one for your car. Or you could try a search at Ebay... You can get a reproduction of one that looks like the original but with a CD player built in, if thats what your looking for, im not sure who sells them but a search on Google may find it. Good luck.

Do what i did...Just make your own plate for your stereo in the dash...I used a piece of aluminum and popped in a blaupunkt deck..1000 watt amp in the trunk with a 10 inch sub...4 sony explode 6x9,s in the car...Two are on the floor behind the bucket seats and the other two in the package tray...I put in a radio delete plate and filled the hole for the antenna...

If you're not worried about keeping a stock look, try using a police radio console. These are just wide enough to install a standard car stereo and hold it securely, and if you buy a used one they're pretty cheap. I bought a Pro Copper console from www.lightbars.net for about $60. It had a slanted area for installing electronics, plus two deep cup holders and a nice sized storage area. They also make consoles for cars with bench seats that just have the space to mount a radio.

I installed a double-DIN 6-disc CD/MP3 unit out of a Ford F-150 into the console and really like it. The stereo controls are right at your fingertips.
