Turn signals won't cancel.

I recently rebuilt the steering column on my 69 Charger. I installed a new turn signal switch to fix my brake light problem. The brake lights are now working but my signals won't cancel automaticaly.

The steering wheel splines are a little messed up, so Im not sure I'm getting it on all they way. I can visually see the pin that's supposed to engage switch it looks like its deep enough but won't engage switch. Am I missing something?

I've only done one. And its been a while. I'm just guessing here, but trying to help. When you mentioned the splines i looked at an old pic i had. I didn't remember this, but it shows a flat spot inbetween them. I assume for ligning up. Could that be it ?

Yep, Its lined up but you can tell it hasn't been in the past.

Mine was an easy fix years ago with the broken plastic piece. I saw an episode of GYC last night where a 69 Charger would not cancel. Not the plastic, but he sourced another column and I fell asleep before seeing the fix.
