I'm going to have my converter out for some adjustments, and now is the time to decide. Ive always used dexron, but have read of others that use Type F. What are your opinions?

All I have used for 35 years.

I spoke to a veteran tranny builder about using type F and he said not in my tranny. I know the DC book says to use it because it has a higher friction coefficient, and I have used it for a while, but I'm inclined to take the experts advice on a street driven car. I can look at this argument from another perspective. What car uses type F today? Seems to me you are lucky to find it on the shelf at the parts store and there is a reason for it.

type f wont hurt anything, it adds some friction modifiers not found in dexron so that is a plus, the only down side is that it cannot handle higher temps like dexron, but if your trans is running in good shape, then there is nothing to worry about.

Rick Allison of A&A transmission said to use dextron mercon III in my race tranny. He's got to be one of the best Mopar transmission builders. IMO

Ive always heard use f-type. From personal experience with it, it functions fine but foams up when temp gets hotter. Ive been inside several 727s that have ran f-type for a number of years prior, and the internals are very healthy looking, never alot of clutch material.. typically is at least a dollar cheaper per quart than any other type. If i ever used any other kind though, probably would be atf+.

I used B&M Trick Shift, which is a modified type F and had no problems with it. It won't hurt your seals.

However, it also probably won't make any discernable difference in the way your transmission shifts, so no advantage in my oppinion.
