Underhood mark

Anybody out there know what the “8” (or “S” with a slash) means, on my ‘69 GTX firewall?

Not really. It’s very dark, what is it writen with, a sharpie?

Is the car a 4 speed?

I’m more interested in why the fender bolts are missing on each side.

It’s black paint. It’s a factory mark. No Sharpies in ‘69, lol. Fenders are off and on cuz I’m working on the repaint.
