upper ball joint ?

This is on the driver side.
1968 GTX.
I removed the cotter pin and the castle nut from the bottom
of the ball joint.
I unscrewed the ball joint from the top with the big socket.
But it won't come out. I thought it would come out easy after
unscrewing the ball joint.
Do I still need a ball joint wedge to separate it?

Don't do that...until you back off the torsion bar adjuster bolt. Read up on it, in your manual.

Also get a big hammer and strike the side of the spindle along side of the ball joint stud. Leave the nut on just slightly loose a couple turns so nothing can fly or fall apart suddenly.

After I removed the castle nut, I released the jack that I had under the bottom A arm, and it popped apart.
The upper ball joint unscrewed pretty easy. After I put the new ball joint in I put a couple of tack welds on the sides. ( A arm threads where kinda rounded ).
