Used lifters on a used cam

I would not use Comp Cam parts, period. Too many stories of recent failures. Don't risk it and get better quality lifters and cam.

As far as re-using parts...on anything close to stock or oem with stock spring pressures. Check the crown on the lifters and check rotation. Cam lobes should be sloped and not flat. I have re-used stock lifters without issue.

That is a great idea. If it works, it would be a great thing to go to junkyards and pull lifters from wrecks to have OEM quality stuff that is reliable and sturdy.
Indeed! I never assumed anyone would do that but myself! Found a totalled, long ago rotted away 69 Newport with 011,000 mi on it several years ago. STILL running the CAST crank from it.

Back in my Chevy-Mopar dealer days the general consensus was never mix up lifters/pushrods/valves etc .

But since we replaced cams, blocks, heads etc. everyday without keeping them in their original holes I would use 'em.

As long as you have stock-ish rate valve springs.

GM and Mopar never authorized replacing the lifters when doing warranty work...they simply would not pay for them so we didnt replace them.
