vent window rechrome

Pot metal is kinda swedged on to channel... carefully work the pot metal " buttons" until it comes off. I used panel bond to reattach after chroming

Yes and there's a second set of "buttons" to swage it back on, but I don't recommend trying and wish I'd gone the bond route. I'll look for my bill at how many $$$'s that process cost!

Pair of vent frames, glass holders, lock knobs and outer washers cost me $830 CDN in 2017 as well as polishing the SS section along with all the other trim at $38 a foot !

Is that a vote for reproduction vent windows?

I'll have to tackle or replace mine, so interested in learning the process. I might go repro route if anyone has had luck with them. It looked like $850 a pair for vent window assemblies when I checked the other day. But unsure of quality.

Does anyone have experience with Reproduction Vent Window Assemblies like the above or similar?

A couple years ago I was checking out a Coronet R/T I was considering buying that had pitted vent window frames.
I talked to a buddy of mine who knows trim restoration and helps out Special Ts with their trim resto business, and he said they were fixable. He probably told me an estimated price but I don’t recall now what it was. The car had a lot of issues, so I passed on it, therefore didn’t actually pursue having vent window frames restored.
But Special Ts is a place that can restore them.

I'm not familiar with them. Do you have a website or more info?

I just did a quick look and don’t see a website for him. But his name is Bill Petrow and I have 847-255-5494 as a phone number. His house is only 2 or 3 miles from mine.
I’ve used him long ago and his work is great. In more recent times I’ve had my friend who works with him do my trim projects, but he’s a retired guy who just does work for Bill and for a few friends. Let me know if you have trouble getting in touch with Bill, I could ask my buddy what Bills status is these days.
