its remembrance day over here , one of my uncles was in ww2 and occupation forces in japan then was among the first sent into Korea from japan . another spent 4 years in kobe after being captured by japs

a great big thankyou for your service to all vets

My wife and I, both vets will be remembering her dad, Colonel Bart Hayward, US Army. 32 years, full bull, taught at the War College, worked at the Pentagon, post commander of Ft Meade Maryland, and also Ft Monroe Virginia, 3 combat tours in Nam, province advisor in 65', commander of the multinational forces in the Sinai. Artillery officer. Turned down a Generals star because he had never taken a drink of alcohol in his entire life and was not about to begin just so he could fit in with the stuffed shirts. All around great guy, deacon at his church at the age of 15. College professor after retirement and ran for the State Legislature of south Carolina. Best man I have ever known, and I've known some of the best. Also he was Defense Attaché to Bucharest, Romania. ( spy)
Rest in Peace warrior, you battles are done, you march complete. Your country owes you it's respect.

Thank you to all our vets, everywhere. I believe their sacrifices are a true definition of love....for others, and our country.

I have a passed friend, that I think about all the time. Doug Humer. He served from 1966-1968 in the Marines/Force-Recon. He did "stingray" ops during "Operation Phoenix". Ironically, he spent his entire time fighting in Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand...during the Viet-Nam war. He was a great man who was a Patriot, warrior, a great human-being. After the war, he got into school-teaching...and worked with emotionally challenged kids. The jungle finally killed him, decades after the war. He died of a heart-infection, which no-one had found. He always had colds, flu, and other "bugs".
Rest in Peace Doug....Marine and friend.

Today, on the day we all remember our fellow citizens who are serving in the armed services all around the world, and those who have become veterans after their service, I wish to thank each of you for your very personal sacrifice for the rest of us. Without the 1% of our citizenry who agree to serve for the 99% that do not, we would be in a far different country today, and indeed, in a far different world. Thank you all for what you have done and for what many of you are doing, even now, here and abroad. Bless you.
Ghostrider 67....out.

Happy Veterans Day to all who have served our country to protect our freedoms. I'm very proud of all our veterans and active duty troops. My dad and several of my uncles served in WWII and Korea. My three older brothers and I all joined the USAF right out of high school. I know that a lot of you guys on this board are veterans and I salute your service. God bless you all.
