Sent a text to my dad this morning saying "thanks dad, thanks for serving 20 years........even if it was in the Navy"! He replied back "your welcome, and thank you for bleeding on the flag to keep the stripes red"!

sharing this with you all

I'm writing to you on Veterans Day with a deep sense of gratitude to our American veterans, including those in our Harbor Freight family as well as the millions of Harbor Freight customers who serve or have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. On behalf of the entire Harbor Freight team, we thank you for your service and sacrifice.

To honor veterans last year, we made a donation to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans to help bring and coordinate community support to so many veterans in need. A year has passed, and while progress has been made in some parts of America, it is a tragic fact that veterans continue to struggle with homelessness, mental illness and so many other challenges. This year we want to do more. In recognition of the many and continuing challenges our veterans face each day, we've decided to double our support for the vital work of the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans.

We hope you'll join us today and every day in expressing respect and support for our veterans.

With gratitude,

RIP Uncle Gus. A young man gunner in a B24, shot down over Germany WW2. He and one other crew member survived. He was eventually captured and spent the next couple of years as a POW. As the war drew to a close the Nazi's were relocating prisoners in other prison camps. As he was being marched through the woods he and others escaped. They survived two weeks in the middle of the winter with no warm clothes. Nothing to keep them warm and they almost starved to death before being rescued by Allied troops. My dad said when he enlisted he had a full head of hair and when he got home he was bald
He married his sweetheart and spent the rest of his life as a garment cutter, raised two children
He was the happiest, most funny entertaining person i ever met, the life of the party. He never told anyone about when he was a POW. Nobody knew much until a fellow POW who knew him spoke at his wake. It was one of the most moving moments i ever experienced. Uncle Gus really knew what life was all about, he saw death many times and survived while many did not. He truly grasped what so many of us take for granted. He is and always will be a American hero.

I just returned from our local VFW. My lady friend and I are Social Members. Real nice crowd, the Vets ate for free. We had the opportunity to thank and shake hands with many Vets from the area.
Great group of people! God Bless Them All!
