Im looking at trading one of my project cars for a '72 Dart (yes i know A-body) that has a salvage title due to water damage..The story the owner told me is he parked it in a barn for the winter that is by a stream, when the snow melted in the spring the stream overflowed its banks before he could get the car out. he said the water was up to about the valve cover on the slant 6, you can see in some of the pictures where the water stained the interior. my question is what concerns should i have besides maybe the carpet and seats needing replaced and the slant 6 and trans being bad? the body on it looks to be in pretty good shape, does it look like a decent project car for what it is?

was his summer time daily driver before it flooded, under 100k miles. was a California car

Use the sheet metal only unless you can buy a complete wiring harness for the entire car as EVERY electrical connection will be corroded. Then keep in mind that anything that water can damage will be damaged as far as upholstery, carpet, engine tranny, brakes and so forth.

so if the water didnt touch any of the dash, it'll most likely need replaced or gone through as well?

if you did decide to get it(your choice) since the owner said how high the water got i would take anything and everything off the car that i could.Since it was river water that flooded you will have mud and crud INSIDE the frame rails and settled in all the crevices. Not trying to stop you from buying/trading the car, but just letting you know what you can get yourself in for.I had a parts car sitting at my mom's farm and it flooded up to halfway up the rims and they are rusting badly.Just ptting in my thought.
