Water Pump/ Fan Pulley Install - 383 HP

Couldn’t he just slip a few washers behind the pulley to fix both issues?
I considered that, but the botls are towards the outside and wouldn't torque down correctly. I think they would bend the pulley that way. Better to have support under the bolt holes.

Yep except mine are from Jegs, I had a issue with pulley not lining up.
If you do use them, the best way to line everything up is, cut the heads off a couple of bolts, screw them in as a guide. I fought trying to line shims pulley and fan up at the same time
I just use a wooden dowel or chopstick and break it just long enough to stick out a few inches to support one bolt hole, then thread the others in, then remove wood piece for final bolt.

I was more concerned about the fan bottoming on the pump snout and not being allowed to clamp the pulley.
The fan has a spacer on the back - don't think that will be an issue.

I thought about backing the flange off the shaft, but was worried about making it "loose" as the press fit is the only thing holding the flange, pulley, and the fan in place.
