Hey everyone its josh again, I've been helping a friend with her car, its a Hyundai Accent GS four banger manaul. and its currently running really rich and I noticed a leak of air it was coming from the exhaust tightened it up, had NO power what so ever, I was maybe getting 200 RPM after tightening it so figured Cat or muffler plugged, so untightened it all and took off was running great had all power back, so now two things, She just had the Cat replaced maybe about two months ago, so this is were my knowledge of stuff is maxed out, what would make the car run rich and possibly plug up a brand new Cat? Any help is very much appreciated. Sorry this is such a different car then we're mainly about, but I needed some help from a real mechanic.

Oftentimes, when a cat conv craps out, its guts disintegrate & it clogs up the muffler or resonator downstream. Done enough to know.

I would think the effects of a muffler clogged by the guts of the old converter would show up pretty much right after the vat was changed. Not 2 months later.
What dtc's have you retrieved?

p0327(Knock Sensor bank 1) P0137(O2 Sensor), and yeah it ran great after the Cat was replaced she said, but it was so plugged like I said when I tightened the exhaust bolts up I could only get roughly 500 RPM with the pedal to the floor.

Wish that was an option in this case!

What exactly are we working on here. Year? Mileage? Cats are covered 8/80. P0137 could be a cause of, or the result of the cat being clogged. Typically for a cat to die that quick you should have had a CEL on at some point over the last 2 months. A flashing check engine light is a catalyst damaging misfire.

2007 Hyundai Accent GS, mileage 93,948, and her check engine light was on when she brought me the car, and I asked her how long its been on and she said probably a month shes not one to go and get the car checked right away after the light comes on no matter how many times I've explained it to her.
