We live in a sick society

One common theme with these recent shootings is mental illness and this is what happens when you can no longer institutionalize the crazies.

The link did not come up but it was when officers Rocco Laurie and Gregory Foster were ambushed and shoot dead by members of the Black liberation party. Its a awful thing when three people are gunned down in a senseless act of violence. It seems we see all to much of this

60 minutes did a piece just last night explaining these shootings. Check it out on line if you missed it.

I think we live in a fine society with a very few really sick people in it who need to be locked up.

We used to institutionalize these people to keep them from doing harm to others as well as themselves, but it was decided that it wasn't politically correct, so we turned them all loose and now we wonder why these horrible things are happening.

Don't get me started ...

Theres something gone wrong when two cops eating there lunch get shot execution style for no reason. Then some poor woman going shopping gets shot and killed. We worry about terrorists from outside this country but it seems we have enough of them already living amoung us

I agree, although this is a sick act the news all to often just shows the bad. If the news focused on the good deeds we would be shocked by the goodness still present in this country but that doesn't get ratings. Maybe were the ones that are sick for giving them the ratings?

this wouldnt happen as much if the news did not report it as such wide spread

its giving a reason to do this ... giving them the 1 second fame

we need to warehouse these people (cop killers) & etc....
instead of so called rehab' and send back into society......
3 strikes and your out?....no!... 1 or two and you are gone forever....:eusa_think:

option: leave the country for good.

all i know is i never saw the kinds of violence i see now when i was a kid growing up

I don't know when you grew up so I can only talk about what I saw...

JFK assassination
RFK assassination
MLK assassination
John Lennon shot
Reagan shooting
Freedom riders killed
Pol Pot

Kent State
Weathermen bombings
SLA
Vietnam
Six Day war
Yom Kippur war
'68 Democratic convention
Watts/Detroit riots

Boston Strangler
Starkweather killings
Charles Whitman
Richard Speck
Manson Murders

...off the top of my head.

Good thing they cleaned up the Bugs Bunny Road Runner hour on Saturday mornings. All that dropping anvils and pianos on peoples heads was probably desensitizing me to violence.

we live in a great society with a few really sick people

69 Cornet, Yes i agree with you but what i am refering to is the acts of violence were there seems to be no explanation like your sitting in a movie theater and a guy with a gun starts killing people or the 26 innocents in Conn. It just seems to happen so much more often

The U.S. has a larger percentage of it's population in prison than any other country on the planet yet we still have these demented whack job roaming the streets, sometimes with guns. I don't know what that tells you, but it tells me that we must be putting a lot of the wrong people in prison and a lot of the ones that should be locked up are free as a bird. The babbling crazies are roaming the streets while some dumb *** kid gets busted with a joint in his pocket can get a year or more in prison. It doesn't make any sense to me.

we do live in a sick society...
where people feel that criminals have more rights than victims.....:angryfire:
a government that promotes government dependence....:angry9:
a president that releases 5 of the worlds most dangerous terrorists :angryfire:

we really do live in a sick world because we don't hold people accountable for their actions :angry4:

I was born in 51 and I remember a lot of crap that happened in the last 50 years and I lived in a fairly small town but not too far away from Boston and the Boston Strangler came to mind right away. Also, if one were to research the stats on all sorts of crime, the numbers might surprise you....one way or the other.

Mentally ill people, walking the streets

I would say that we are a "formally great society".

For the most part we have {or had} a great society, especially away from big urban inner-city masses...

OK, I should have added with some really crappy politicians, now who are all ruining it for the rest of the great U.S. society, with some failed ideology....

My original post was in reference to the mentally ill sicko freaken' wack jobs, that should be institutionalized for life,
but are now allowed to roam the streets, usually all doped up on some mind altering PX drug...

But instead because of some "lame touchy feely ideology", now those mentally ill & sicko freaken' wack jobs, that feel the need to kill a bunch of people, because they didn't win a trophy for doing nothing or for merely just participating as a child, some BS that they weren't hugged enough, some other lame BS excuses altogether, covering for mental illness, that some bleeding heart academia says or some MD/PHD psychologist/psychiatrist says was the cause...

It's a lack of morality, they should have learned from their parents {if they had good parents} & unfortunately didn't, or they are just a twisted sicko freaken' wack jobs, in the 1st place...

IMHFO no sane person would ever, do this...
