We live in a sick society

The U.S. has a larger percentage of it's population in prison than any other country on the planet yet we still have these demented whack job roaming the streets, sometimes with guns. I don't know what that tells you, but it tells me that we must be putting a lot of the wrong people in prison and a lot of the ones that should be locked up are free as a bird. The babbling crazies are roaming the streets while some dumb *** kid gets busted with a joint in his pocket can get a year or more in prison. It doesn't make any sense to me.

When in doubt, follow the $ trail.

For the most part we have {or had} a great society, especially away from big urban inner-city masses...

OK, I should have added with some really crappy politicians, now who are all ruining it for the rest of the great U.S. society, with some failed ideology....

My original post was in reference to the mentally ill sicko freaken' wack jobs, that should be institutionalized for life,
but are now allowed to roam the streets, usually all doped up on some mind altering PX drug...

But instead because of some "lame touchy feely ideology", now those mentally ill & sicko freaken' wack jobs, that feel the need to kill a bunch of people, because they didn't win a trophy for doing nothing or for merely just participating as a child, some BS that they weren't hugged enough, some other lame BS excuses altogether, covering for mental illness, that some bleeding heart academia says or some MD/PHD psychologist/psychiatrist says was the cause...

It's a lack of morality, they should have learned from their parents {if they had good parents} & unfortunately didn't, or they are just a twisted sicko freaken' wack jobs, in the 1st place...

IMHFO no sane person would ever, do this...

Sigh...so sad.

I would say that we are a "formally great society".

You've seen the pilot episode of 'The Newsroom', huh?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zqOYBabXmA

I agree, although this is a sick act the news all to often just shows the bad. If the news focused on the good deeds we would be shocked by the goodness still present in this country but that doesn't get ratings. Maybe were the ones that are sick for giving them the ratings?

EXACTLY! Where do you think the "crazies" get the ideas??? If the producers of ALL of the news programs stopped to look, they would find enough positive news to go 24/7/365 without ever having to say a negative word! Oh, I 'm sorry, I forgot there is no money in feel good stories.

Institutionalize them? Euthaniz would be a better verdict. Maybe a few public hangings would get the point across? Too many touchy feely pussies any more.

Where did the crazies get their ideas to commit crime before there was radio and TV?

I don't know when you grew up so I can only talk about what I saw...

JFK assassination
RFK assassination
MLK assassination
John Lennon shot
Reagan shooting
Freedom riders killed
Pol Pot

Kent State
Weathermen bombings
SLA
Vietnam
Six Day war
Yom Kippur war
'68 Democratic convention
Watts/Detroit riots

Boston Strangler
Starkweather killings
Charles Whitman
Richard Speck
Manson Murders

...off the top of my head.

Good thing they cleaned up the Bugs Bunny Road Runner hour on Saturday mornings. All that dropping anvils and pianos on peoples heads was probably desensitizing me to violence.
All these and more.. I was going out at the time of Son of Sam, as well..

Negativity sells. Hell, look at all the people that bitch/complain/whine around here.

69 Cornet, Yes i agree with you but what i am refering to is the acts of violence were there seems to be no explanation like your sitting in a movie theater and a guy with a gun starts killing people or the 26 innocents in Conn. It just seems to happen so much more often

What I would agree to is the age of the perpetrators is getting lower. Most of the acts I referred to were committed by men in their 20s-40's. Much of what you hear about today is done by teens. (Columbine, Slenderman, etc)

all i know is i never saw the kinds of violence i see now when i was a kid growing up

Come on, all the best serial killers are from that era. We live in a nice society with kind, law abiding people. The worst i can say about most people is they are a bit selfish, too busy to say hi and don't necessarily agree with me on some things. But that's ok with me.

Here's my reasoning - some parents spend their lives insulating their kids from negative feelings, negative consequences, negative people, and then throw them in school which is FULL of all of the above. It's no wonder modern kids resent school, they were bred to fail.

Think about how we grew up - we saw negative consequences when our parents 'suspected' we did something wrong or even might have though it. We didn't do our job, we got punished severely. We didn't like dinner, we went hungry. When we went to school we expected all of the above to be even more strict.

What's disappointing to me is when people gun down a crowd of people who have done nothing to deserve it when these homicidal maniacs could band together and drive a uhaul full of fertilizer to Washington dc and solve 99% of the problems that led up to them being psychotic to begin with

Please, let's not forget the Three Stooges as well! They used to thump on each other pretty good.

Kinda like that scene in a Dirty Harry movie where the guy plants a bomb in the Men's room, and after it explodes Harry check's the damage and say's, "God, ya can't even go to the can in peace" rings a bell here.

Don't forget the Unabomber and Zodiac Killer these people have been around since the begining of time. Blame a permissive Liberal culture that prevents doctors from reporting to authorities for privacy Act nonsense!!

those serial killers were dealt with accordingly 20 years of Law enforcement here, in today's world it's about numbers and votes
if you empathize with people who commit this atrocities, and allow media to sensationalize you contribute to the problem,
when I say we live in a sick society, simply because we don't deal with the problem head on. gun control isnt the answer.
our judicial system is a joke. criminals in jail are treated better than our veterans criminals have more rights than victims
