Anyone else planning on going on a cruise this weekend? At least up here in the great white north it is supposed to be beautiful in the low to mid 70's with plenty of sun! I was going to cruise from South of Rochester to Prairie Du Chien on Saturday. What routes do you all like to take? It Does not have to be in the Midwest either!

Not really any cruises close to here now
drive up & down Main st./hwy 49 or Washington St.

there used to be a cool Cars/Burgers & Shakes deal,
every Friday evening until it got cold & rainy
a town over & down the hill, past Sonora, in Jamestown, just off hwy-108

some cool older crowd, people with
lots of cool Jeeps, some really nice 4x4 Trucks, a few cool Hot Rods/30's & 40's
a few 50's cars, mostly tri-5s & a couple Muscle Cars
It was a draw from about 3-4 counties all around us,
Tuolumne Co. isn't very populated, it's huge & only 54k population, mostly rural

Go on any extended trips or mostly local drive in nights with the car?

Finally some great weather forecast here this weekend. It's been hot and humid, or rain, it seems, for most of the last 2 months since show and cruise season got into high gear in my area this year and I've been down feeling cheated out of my usual summer passion of enjoying my rides.
Decisions decisions... Saturday the cruise in my town, which can hold around 125 cars, is featuring Mopars. Being so close, and since it starts in May, I get sort of bored with that cruise though. There is another good cruise about a half hour drive away from me that has cars parking up and down the main drag and in some parking lots there. Also features a live band every week. Cars drive up and down the main drag too, so it's a fun event. It only runs about 2 months, and the last one for the year is in 2 weeks, so I feel a little pressured that I should go there instead of Mopar feature in my town.
And Sunday there are 3 events going on I'd like to be at. A custom and hot rod shop in the next town over from mine has a open house every year where a lot of cool cars show up, they have a band, and the shop is open so you can tour it and see what they are working on.
But at the same time a over 55 community about 20 miles north of me has a nice charity show I am a regular at and pre-registered for.
And the Illinois Railroad museum in Union IL has a yearly show that I've yet to get to, but I'm told is really good between all the cars and seeing the vintage trains.
I wish I could be at 3 places at once!

Wow it sounds like there is a ton to do around you to bad they are not closer you could cruise between cruises  , I assume this is all outside of Chicago proper?

Yes, I live in the Chicago burbs. As demoralizing it is living in this swirling down the drain area is, we do have a lot of really good cruise nights and shows in the area, so it's not all bad here. And MCACN is 12 miles from my place in November too!
In our car season, there are cruises literally every night of the week and many would be surprised to hear just how big some of our cruise nights are.
There is a Monday night cruise at a shopping mall near me (was at Old Orchard in Skokie, this year at Golf Mill in Niles) that gets over 300 cars on a good night.
The monthly Saturday night cruise in Morris IL in the far southwest Chicago suburbs averages 600-700 and has had as many as 1000 cars.
The Tuesday night cruise in Downers Grove gets close to 250 on a good night. A Thursday night cruise in Westmont just east of Downers Grove is really big too with hundreds of cars, I never manage to get over there though.
I went to the one 1/2 hour from me last Saturday in my convertible (Lombard), and was irritated when an unforecasted light shower popped up. Checking my phone, a weather site showed a scattered rain hitting my neighborhood later, so when the streets dried, I headed towards home. Not a cloud in the sky, so I swung by the cruise in my town and hung out there for a while before heading home for the evening since that online weather outlook was wrong.

Unfortunately it's heating up around here... Probably won't do it again until early to mid October..

We've taken groups on seven cruises so far this year, I always keep an eye on the weather forecast, if it's gonna be in the mid 80's or cooler I start organizing...

Generally 100-200 miles, a stop for lunch & maybe a second stop to get out & stretch... Usually up in the foothills/mountains.. Use to include trips to the coast/Bay Area but gotten to the point most of us don't like dealing with the traffic...

Sometimes we only have 3-4 cars, sometimes we have 25+ depends on what else is going on...

The Minnesota chapter of the Oldsmobile Club of America has a show this coming weekend. If the weather is nice that’s where I’m going, a lot of really nice Olds show up and I’m hoping to find the guy that bought my deceased friend Sonny’s Rallye 350. Hopefully he’s enjoying it as much as Sonny did…

I have thousands of show and cruise pictures from events over the years I've uploaded to Flickr. I'm at work now and IT blocked Flickr, so I can't access the link now to post, but search schroederbrad41 and you'll find my Flickr site. This might work I can't open now to confirm due to blocked at work Brad Schroeder
This site lists all the car cruises and shows in the Chicago area:

Where in Minnesota?

Been hotter than Hades the last couple weeks here (92+, at 1600' elevation in Maryland)...and raining a ton. I have to mow 2x a week to keep up.

Saturday there's a Jimmie Cone cruise (every other Saturday during the summer). I've never had a chance to go, but this week is supposed to be dry, sunny, and 78. I think the Charger may get a little exercise....

No not much of or if anything 'organized anyway'
I do go upcountry to my cousin Stan's place or down the mountain to Sonora/town
to stretch her (The other B.I.T.C.H.) legs some...
Not much of anything up here of late, very rare car related stuff either...
I don't go far in it either now, just nothing that calls to me...

There was a show at the winery down the hill, 50-60 miles
Murphy's at Ironstone Winery,
they rarely even advertise, & I sort of lost interest, I'm not into showing my car,
not for judging anyway...
I just don't care for that personally...
I like to look though...

The Founders day Parade around Mothers Day, they asked me
to put my car (68 RR) in the parade, a while back
it doesn't really appeal to me either
I like the parade & the tradition here, but not being in it...
Mostly a cowboy deal, around our rodeo...
I drive it around locally here, about all now...

Do the Union show, it really is a fun show. Always a good number of cars show up, the vintage trains with two or three of them operating for passenger rides, electric trollies cruising around to take passengers to different parts of the grounds, usually a few vintage trucks, buses, RV's, etc. it's a good show. I usually make it out there, but grown-up life is getting in the way this year.
