What do you do?

I'm retired now. Used to be a store interior planner for J.C. Penney, for 38 years, and thrashed on cars in my spare time most of those years.

Semi retired
I tried a bunch of different trades occupation over the years
Several business owned, Construction & facility management, most of the time
went to school for Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering...
Started out with PG&E engineers aid, my B-I L was the head engineer in GC dept.
I was ousted by affirmative action, went to the Power Plants
ran tear down crews, then became a certified combination welder...

Engineering was my preferences...
But didn't want to be stuck in a cubical in the shity, all damn day pushing a pencil,
I went & got my Contractors lic. after a stint in Termite repair,
I figured I could do better, that the union shops I worked for...

But I did designed some areal equipment Utility trucks
for a couple years in late 90's...
I also ran my Construction co., servicing 125 automotive dealerships
& a Golf Pro-Shop, Equipment sales, Repairs, retail sales,
private golf lessons, mini tour Golf-Pro...
I've been a Union Carpenter, Union Pipefitter, Plumber, Electrician, Roofer, Mason,
Tile-man & Granite installation, specialized in kitchen & bathrooms early on
when I 1st got my licenses...

Younger years
I started out doing 3 paper routes,
I was a grunt laborer, carpenter, awning & installer for my dad's co. as a kid,
My true life was working to support me being a traveling Drag racer, 1975-2007
I worked to race, occ. Sprint car racer, occ. Quad racer, part time mechanic,
part time car sales, part time fabrication, restorations...
I was a scuba instructor for a short time...
Ice Truck delivery driver & warehouse processor, while attending school...
I was even was a Ski Instructor, for quite a few winters when construction
was slow, before a family...

My fall back was always carpentry or fabrication/welding skills,
learned both at a very early age...

I've done a bunch of stuff over the decades, jack of all trades,
pretty well rounded in my 57 years, I was looking for my niche,
I'm still working, but mainly consulting & only part time on my schedule...

see ya'

Hey, I'm your long lost brother :D

Congratulations!!! It is the best job in the world, sometimes the toughest too! Boy or girl?, either way, there is no feeling like it in the world! Make sure you have someone recording the first time y'all get to hold them! I often look at our pic's & mine are now 14 & 10...
Found out we're having a boy!! Either way, I'd have been beyond excited, either way they'd be introduced to Mopars, playing in the mud, and shooting guns!!

Electrician for 34 years, now specialising in automation of gates, barriers and access control systems etc....it pays the bills. :)

self employment .....2 businesses ......too many hours, and has nothing to do with this hobby, Drears!

also, Sonny is an idea-man.

Joined the army after high-school was hoping it was going to be my career but was short lived because of a back injury, then I became a professional student and went to college off and on for six years. After building up a lot of debt from school and a short job at the dodge dealership service department i started traveling the country working on pipelines and paid off my school and bought a bunch of toys
Now I'm back home taking over the family business (small store in a small town) living the quiet life

I performed many different engineering jobs, built $100s of millions of buildings and retired from the USAF. Worked for private industry too building more buildings. Now I am semi-retired and doing forensic engineering for attorneys. I work on interesting things like propane tanks that become missiles shooting through the roof. My 37 year long personal To Do list is being knocked out a little at a time now too.

I lift people up and I put them down.

Apparently, RC wrestled in his youth.

I am part owner and manager of a company that manufactures custom tool kits for the military, aviation, and commercial manufacturing facilities. We also provide packaging solutions and specialized weapons cases for various manufactures. And most important of all Companion, Friend, and Mr Fix It to my wife and 5 year old.

Wow, lots of you guys have some interesting jobs, that pays your bills.
Me, i don't have to work anymore, from being an auto mechanic.
Retired, and get my social security payment into the bank account, every 4th Wednesday of the month.
But tinker around with rebuilding of brake and suspension parts, from time to time, to occupy some of my time, and then resell the rebuilt parts.

My *** is broken and i'm still working lol One day at a time. I get to play with chocolate, sprinkles, almonds, coconut, peanuts, jelly, candy, 100 ft long ovens packing equipment, giant mixers... I weld,tig/mig , fabricate, machine .repair it all. guess what I do for a Living ? and its not working for Willy Wonker close though.
