I know this is a very vague question. A friend is in a physically bad spot. I have not seen the vehicle in a year. It doesn't have an engine or trans. It's a Socal car and doesn't have anything but surface rust I believe. I would believe that the interior is toast as well. I believe it is either a 318 or 383, auto car. He has owned it for many years and it has sat outside (in socal). I believe all the glass is in it, along with light assemblies. I may be able to get pictures of it. Any thoughts or ideas on value? I haven't kept up on prices for at least 15 years. Thanks for your input.

Welcome.
Pictures help.
Does it have a rear end and front suspension?
How are the floor pans, trunk, rear window area? Places that are usually rusted.

Especially the rear window.

They're holding their value well, rank right at the top with 69 Mustangs and Camaros.

If you let it go for less than 15k your crazy. I would start at $17,500. If it had a big block/trans to go with it add another $1000. I have sold 2 68 Chargers in the last year so pretty confident in my numbers. If you arent getting any bites you are advertising in the wrong places.

It has front & rear suspension. I am not sure of rusted areas, but again it's been a desert car for much if not all of it's life. I would imagine the floors and trunk should be okay, unless the rear window has been leaking into it.

Whatever you're willing to pay for it. Everybody has their own opinion, but in the end it's what the car is worth to you. Besides, you pose an impossible hypothetical simply by virtue of your incomplete description of the vehicle and your own ignorance of the value of the vehicle going back 15 years. Just sayin'. By the way, welcome to the website.

I sold a 1968 Charger shell with 440 and trans, rolling on four tires for over $6,000. It had rust in the usually places, but this was over six years ago. I’d say now it’s worth double or maybe triple today.

Post some pictures, they’re worth a thousand words.

:welcome: aboard!

I payed $10k for a running driving (barely) 70 charger 500 383 4 speed needed 1/4's that was it it's been 3-4 years now I see new metal cars foe $15 k not sure of weld quality ECT. I'd say if he's trying to get the most start at $20 k lowest $15k best friend price $12-13 for a quick sale

When i first came active in this forum i asked a few what the value of a co workers car was. A 1969 Charger RT 440 auto, numbers matching sheetmetal and engine. The care needed some rust work and one fender but was solid underneath and a complete car with all trim and glass. It was partly disassembled but was all there. The guy wanted 15 and even at tha was reluctant to sell but maybe cash in hand would have changed things.
I asked around and was told 8 to 10 if i recall. What is that like 7 years ago? So the value has went way up id guess

Second generation Chargers are red hot right now. You need to really look at the car, and see what if any rust there is. A California Charger will bring premium money in this market. I have two 70 Charger R /Ts from California, and both needed some metal work, but nothing like the ones from here in New England. Check around the rear window, trunk floor, floors, and lower rear quarters. I agree with the $17,500 reserve, and e bay is the place to sell a car like this. I sold a 68 Charger roller, New England car, with rust in all the usual places,a couple of months ago, to a fellow FBBO member, for 5 grand, and I think I gave him a real deal.

Thanks for the reply's. I will probably see the car today. He doesn't want to sell it I know, but his health should be more important. He has some other vehicles he could sell also. I will see today what he wants to do.
