All-

I am in the process of stripping out the interior of my 66 Charger and replacing all of the carpet. In the process of cataloging all of the trim pieces in the trunk, I found the panel shown below. It is about the same color as the original paint on the car, but I honestly do not know where this fits in or on the 66 Charger.

Does anyone recognize the panel?

Thanks for your help.

not sure, but that year charger had fold down seats, right?maybe it's a filler panel for when the seat is up or down.not really knowledgeable on those year charger.

Could it be the front lower rock shield? Are you sure its from the interior? Its hard to tell but it looks pretty beat up.

I honeslty do not think it is an interior part...it was just sitting in the trunk with the rest of the outside trim pieces. It sure does look like some sort of a "nose shield" or rock shield, but the front bumper is not curved like this. The bumper was not attached to the car when I bought it though.

I will say that when I stripped down my 66 Coronet (which was a complete car), there were no panels such as this in the front end. Those two cars are almost twins when it comes to the front end...aside from the grille.

I am almost thinking that this may be an extra piece from some other car.

What is it?...slightly bent with some surface rust.
But seriously,it looks like a front splash panel off something, but not a 66 Charger.

I bet a different car. Here is a picture of the lower rock shield on my 69 RR.

It sure looks like a lower rock shield. it connects the lower part of the radiator to the front bumper brackets and closes that gap so rocks don't bounce up into your radiator.

I have had 4 66 Chargers and I can not tell what that is.But I don't think is off a 66 Charger.

RGAZ, wish we lived closer bud, I have a perfect rad support for you...I would bet that part is not from your car btw...

I have just torn down my '67 Charger to a shell and I don't recall anything like that.

Great! I am hanging on to this 66 body as long as I can...my wife wants it gone to the crusher...aargh! I will give the puppy to someone that could use it...its very hard to let good parts go.

I gotta say, I love looking at the pic's of the inside of your guys shops...you can't buy that kind of entertainment. It's cool to see where our creations our born...big or small, lo-buck or high tech...should start a thread...hmmm
