What kind of electronic distributor is this?

Hi All,

In going through this Super Bee I found that it already has electronic ignition. I’m wondering if anyone can tell me if this is a Mopar unit or some type of aftermarket unit based on the Mopar electronic distributors.

Thanks for all your help,
Mikey.

Without a distributor number, I can't tell for sure if it is OEM or aftermarket. But due to the aged look, I would say OEM. Rarely do the distributor components fail. The ECU's can go bad as well as the ballast resistors. Good replacement parts are hard to come by now days. All cheap offshore made that may not work right out of the box. Halifaxhops is the guy to see when you need replacement parts.

Your wire harness looks pretty poor.
You have what appears to be an uninsulated joint right above the firewall ground strap that also looks questionable.
I don't recommend crimped but splices either.

Hopefully you can repair/replace these things.

I'm guessing the distributor and ECU are fine.
Just try and find some good quality spares as mentioned.

^^^^ pretty much bang on what I was thinking. Start by freshening up those gross wire connections.

Thanks all. Very good advice. I'll see if I can pull a dizzy number from the unit but I agree - it looks like it was pulled from a later year. Cleaning up wiring is on my to-do list.

Thanks again,
Mikey

The distributor housing looks just like the stock single point. The caps and rotors are cheap and available at the parts store. ECU can be bought at parts store too.

Most reliable distributor you can buy for it.
