... and would like to ignore & break it ? Simply because you disagree with it, or it's implementation thereof. I guess with politicians of major cities & some states threatening same, do I get to choose a law I don't like so I can ignore/break it ? I'll start with the tax law, if I disagree with it, can I ignore it ? Anybody got a pet peeve law they'd like to choose to ignore and/or break ? Are these politicians ABOVE the law ?

Hard ? Just ignore paying your taxes, see how long that lasts...

I'll add in a couple of vehicle code laws that I never liked:

1) Audible Tire Friction (the actual name) and,

2) Exhibition of Speed

Although illegal in CA, I find myself breaking them quite often. ;)

I don't like any law under the national firearms act or any law infringing my rights
And I can't say I care to much about marijuana prohibition laws either
Small business tax laws suck also
I break speed limits because limits are made to be broken
I'm going to stop here because I have a feeling this list could get long

The last two states that I've lived in, the law states if you don't pay your yearly property tax, you loose your home to the state. Some states don't have this law, some do.
The states that do, you never truly own your home...

I hate seat belt laws and any law that prohibits a man from doing as he pleases with him own property.

Have not been fortunate to live in one of those states yet.

It's a commentary on humans -that most laws are even needed.
:realcrazy:

A law's intent is to deter bad or wrong behavior with payment -of some kind--to be made for violation. If payment is low and law breaking is worth paying for the violation we get a kind of carnival ride going. it becomes something to toy with for fun.

This is one of the -pet peeves- I have with "lawmakers" in general. They spend their time (and our money) telling us how to behave.---BTW I do get the need for -teeth that a law gives--that is needed when it comes to collecting the "fine":D

What I have in mind on this topic is the huge number of just plain stupid laws -that are real- and on the books.

Example- (last I heard many years ago) It's against the law in virginia for two trains approaching each other on the same track to pass. Of course this is silly and the "law makers" were likely having a drinking party that day and a good laugh.
However reality is normally harder to believe than what movie writers come up with to entertain us with.

The power of -and respect for- ALL- laws is diluted with a fountain of stupid laws made by stupid law makers we hire.
I have said before that when we hire "law makers" we likely will get what we asked for.

A couple of years ago they had some HOA's put liens against people for not paying their dues, after they stole an 80 year old widows home from her there was some legislation put in place to prevent scams like that.... I guess a Homestead exemption would protect you to a certain extent...

Seat belt laws save lives on drivers and passengers. I have to disagree with you on that one 747. No reflection on doing what you want with your own property. There's many reasons we should have the seat belt laws. I don't like being told what to do either - but when it comes to preserving life I have to agree with the law. One mans opinion.

We have" excessive acceleration"...............MO

For some reason it bugs the hell out of me that in this state I'm required to have a front license plate. Most states require them, but a few don't. This state is always crying about not having enough money, well I know how you can save a few bucks, by making half as many license plates. JMHFO.

Minnesota has Unnecessary Acceleration as a infraction. Got a ticket for it once for coming out of a parking lot and - in the rain - barely spun the tires going about 10 mph. Judge threw out the ticket that was also accompanied by a Loud Muffler. Tossed em both and reprimanded the cops for harassment.

I think I will take the 5th here, because libs would be first.

He said he hates the seat belt laws, not wearing a seat belt. Seat belt laws don't save lives, wearing seatbelts do. Educate people, don't create new laws making it a crime . I personally think it should only apply to kids under 18. An adult should be able to make their own decision whether they want to wear it or not.

in Australia we have mandatory helmet laws , even pushbikes. Fines for everyone without a salad bowl on their head
