what leafs do you guys use on your B-bodies? I'm looking at getting a set for my 73 satellite. do you guys have pics of how your car sits with different leafs?

looking to get new leafs and new shocks..

what do you guys recommend. thanks!

Seeing as how my cars are more "street" than anything else, I just use the XHD springs and Monroe shocks for a station wagon

thanks..my satellite is just street for now too. until it gets a rebuild..and
thats wat i'm thinking is xhd's. I am just wondering what kinda stance i can expect from my satellite. i am thinking right now, xhd's and gas-a-just kyb shocks..anyone use this setup?

Assuming your original springs are all sagged out, the XHD's will make your car sit several inches higher.

Here's some MP XHD's after settling in, with gas-a-just KYB shocks.

right now, previous owner is using adjustable shocks to change the ride height. so the rear sits really high. he did this so that the tires wold have clearance..the tires are only 265's though..and they would rub if the shocks weren't holding up my car high enough..
so i'm hoping that if i get the xhd's and kyb's, the height will be good enough for tires to clear!

thanks 72 runner for that pic. looks like a nice stance..not quite as high in the rear as mine sits right now, but hopefully if i get the xhd's, i'll have enough clearance..

You really should get those shocks off there. The mounts (especially the uppers) were never meant to be a load bearing structure. I bet if they've been on there for some time (and the car has been driven a bunch) you'll find cracking in the upper mounts.

Anyone with a 68-70 should look very closely at this area as well. Especially on a 68

ABSOLUTELY.

For some reason many people seem to think that shocks are supposed to be load bearing, they are not. The cars SPRINGS are designed for that and if they are not doing the job for the tires you are or wanting to run, then THEY need to be changed. Shocks are just that, SHOCKS, and are there simply to take the shock out of the bumps in the road being transfered to the body. H.D. types can help dampen some spring cavitation in extreme use to help with handling.

Air shocks are terribly hard on a cars body. Air BAGS on the other hand do no damage as they are actually an auxillary part aiding the springs and put no undo stress on the body.

Couldn't have said it better myself!

Air shocks and coil overs are the root of a disaster waiting to happen.

tightened my torsion bars, so it lifted the front some and took some wieght off the back.. so now the air shocks aren't holding up the car as bad. still going to put new leafs on soon though

thanks everyone for the input..i'm trying to figure out all the geometry in the front now..since I tightened the T-bars, its been making some noises..i'm thinking its probably exhaust touching somewhere..will be under there bright and early tomorrow morning
