what new fuel tank and fuel sender

I need a new gas tank and sending unit for my 71 valiant. I'm looking at a Classic tank but I'm not finding a sender that looks identical to the one I removed, if that makes a difference. Is there a good source for a sending unit that is a plug and play that will work with my valiant?

Doesn’t exist. The aftermarket senders are WAY off. Try to clean/reuse/rebuild or find an original used sender

The sending unit in my van was a rusted broken piece of dust.
The fuel pick up tube is still working. I bought a new sending unit from a marine store. It enters the tank from the top.
The original enters the tank from the side.
My van has a 25 gallon thick plastic tank, probably a lot different than your vehicle. I also bought new J hooks to attach to the metal straps that hold the tank in place.
The vent line for mine also had bits missing, so removing the tank for inspection was a good plan.

Supposedly these are supposed to read in the correct ohm range now.

It's all rusted. Can it be cleaned a fixed?

Should be able to recondition it. I don't know who can recondition it, Instrument Specialties stopped doing them. Unless I read wrong. They could possibly refer you.
