Well….. I may have done a lot of work for no reason at all.
I replaced the rear main seal because I was sure it was leaking. Today when I go to install the new oil pan one of the bolts seemed like it was bottoming out before it put pressure on the pan. I grabbed a different one and it fit perfectly. I just finished cleaning all the bolts and I have two that are longer than the rest as you can see in the picture. Should all the bolts be the same length? If so I’m sure these two bolts were creating a gap on the pan.
