What the Hell is on Richard’s Head?

First time I have seen this video of 1959 Daytona 500, its first race, my Dad attended, I was too young, 1960 was my first race at Daytona.
If you watch close you will spot a Station wagon Camera car (Chrysler?) on the banking.
