This cable isn’t attached to anything and goes into the firewall. It’s attached to that bracket behind it. What’s in my hand looks like a small battery terminal.

Do you have a old not original choke cable inside?
Looks like an "add on" during that last 50+ years. Seen a lot of interesting "stuff" in our cars.
Its way to long for it to go on the choke. I was thinking maybe a hood release, but in that case its way to short. It comes up to about the wiper fluid tank.

Maybe it had a Mad Max style manual engagement super charger.
Cable control for heater bypass valve?
Could be, maybe at one point in the cars life it had a setup like that. Good point. I have to say, its looks like its been there a long time.
Now that would be cool.
