I recently got my 1969 Coronet out of the paint shop. It time to build motor and im totally confused. The car has a 489 pos. With 4.10 gears but i want a driver and not a race car but I dont want a slug either. The motor I have is 68 440 with 906 heads. I have a mopar performance dual plane intake and 850 demon carb. I dont know what to use for cam or convetor, the motor will be bored 30 over. Im really a fan of dependability. Thanks

Welcome to FBBO from NorCal

maybe post the question in one of the other appr. forum sections,
like the general discussion, add all the upgrades & details, exhaust intake gears trans etc.
of what your actually doing & what it will be used for it,
what your realistic real world expectation are for the specific combo,
it will help people make a better more educated opinion too, that way
it will get far more views & you'll get far more opinions too...

for reliability & a mainly street cruiser a hydraulic camshaft is best...
converter will/should be dictated by what cam is used & what gears etc....

specifics would be needed for a better wild a$$ guess,
I usually will leave cam suggestions to camshaft mfgrs & the experts...

I know what works for me & my type build & what I like may not be what you like or need...

good luck

you'd be surprised at how well you can make the car perform with a 3.23 gear. you don't need big cams or loose converters. good heads and pistons that match the combustion camber, plus a decent intake and exhaust.
