I have the new-age teflon type, they're working good..in a stock type rebuild with closer to factory cam lift I would use umbrella seals=no machining of the guide bosses needed, also work just fine. All depends on your build...and budget of course
Good to know. I am doing a higher performance build with a Hughes Whiplash cam, so i was kinda wondering... Im about to send heads out to the machine shop so I figured I should ask.
If the cam needs true dual springs, the shop will have to cut the factory guides down. That mandates a positive type seal. They're basically two: Teflon, and Viton. I've used both. Either will work, but both also require very good guides so the valve doesn't move around much. If the springs are singles with a dampener, you can run any stock type seals.
