on a 1970 Superbee. I have the steel wheels with rings and centers but I've put disc brakes up front so they won't work now. I think I'll need 17" wheels now. I tried 18" all around with Coker redline 245/55/18 but they are hideous looking on the car and I'm having clearance problems which I was assured wouldn't happen. I used a BS of 4". I have Wilwood rotors front with smallish two piston calipers (I'll have to look up the number) but pretty sure 17s will work. Still I'll find out for sure. Standard drums in the rear.

I'm thinking 17" wheels but I really need help here on the offset yada and the tire size. I'm not opposed to putting a bigger wheel on the rear and a nice rake to the car. I picked the same size all around because that's more 'stock' looking. I also would rather not put a low profile or small aspect tire on either. I want some sidewall for several reasons.

Would appreciate some suggestions. Thanks in advance. M

How is it that you put discs up front and now can only fit 17"s..Seems to me something went wrong. I know that most times discs force you to use 15"s, exactly how big are these discs?

where is it hitting the wheels ??
what kind of wheels ??
some disc brake conversions, will need a "disc brake style wheel",
that has an offset to clear the caliper ground/machined or built/cast into them on the back side, to clear such issues...
it says in the instructions,
with stamped steel wheels you need a specific spacer/0.20" x 6.60" {Maybe just you need more spacer}
15" wheels min. req.,
I'm sure it depends on the style of wheels,
the caliper is out there close to {parallel} with mounting surface...

I'll have to go back over it. It's been awhile since I tried them on. I moved to the disc brakes with the idea of not using the steel wheels. I may have to go back to them. They will fit with a spacer but I seem to remember it needing to be thicker in practice. I really don't want to use the 15" wheels although I may and I'd like to have the option now.

I'd like to hear from people who have used specific combinations although I recognize I'll have to adapt anything to my rotors/calipers.

i got the wilwoods 12.1 on all four corners. got to go with 17s or bigger. i got 18s on mine with 4.5 backspacing on the front and 18x9.5 in the back with 5.750 backspacing in rear with no problems.

That's what I'm talking about! :) What wheels do you have and what tires? I tried 18s but the center inserts didn't work on the wheels and they didn't really look like Rallye wheels. I put the new BFG redline tires 245/55/18 on and I don't like the look. I can't use them anyway since you can't put the centers on.

i bought vision wheels with nitto tires...18x8 4.5 bs and 18x9.5 5.75bs and tires are 245/45/18 and the rear is 275/45/18...hope this help ya out.

17x8 Torq Thrust D's with 225 50 R17 BFG Sport Comp Tires all around

In this pic I had not adjusted ride ht yet. Suspension is an AlterKtion front and 4 link rear so it sits lower than stock.
I think the 17's look just fine but more than that does not look right on these older cars IMHO

My car is Plum Crazy. I'm relatively certain I will go with 17x8 up front and possibly the same in the rear although I might go 17x9.5. Do you think the Torq Thrust Ds will look good with that color? How about the Torq Thrust II polished? Thanks again for the responses. Big help.

heres mine

Thanks all. I'm thinking of using polished Torq Thrust II 17x8 on the front and 18x10 on the rears. Front has 4.07 BS and rear 5.75". I'd like some recommendations for tires. I'm thinking of using 225-245x45x17 on the front and 275-295x35-40x18 on the rear. I won't be racing it or needing to hook so I'm thinking decent road tires front and rear. I'm not going with low profile tires as I think the car looks better with more sidewall and I've not had much luck with low profile tires and wheels either. They hate potholes.

Hi,
I bought the Wilwood 140-9828-D (12.19in) for my 68 Charger. I have
American Racing AR62 Outlaw II (15inx7) and would like to know if anyone has ever attempted to make those work on their setup.
If that don't work would 15x8in with a 3.75 in. Backspace work

Thanks

The larger the wheel size you go with the more you will have to ponder on the tire height – lower profile tire for clearance unless doing some other mods. We all have our slants on wheel sizing on older rides and all good; to each their own. I’m a geezer and not attracted to wheels too much oversize from stock. Definitely like a bit larger wheel as I did on mine (including for caliper clearance) and actually would have liked a bit larger wheel = 16-inch. Much larger than this, ok, yep depending on the ride – my geezer inklings start to kick in, lol.
