I went to put the front and rear window trim back on my 74 Roadrunner, and got nowhere. I had about half the original clips on the car, and bought an after market set for the rest. They looked to be the same size/shape as the originals.

I got the new clips on with only about a 7 out of 10 on the frustration meter, but the trim just doesn't want to hook up with the new clips. It's snapping onto the old clips in most places, but only wants to mate with about half the new clips.

I tried pushing from different directions, bitch slapping, holding my tongue different ways, but nothing is working. Is these some trick to getting these pieces back on?

Had same problem. Sometime the chinese repops are very similar. the tension is too much on them, try "prying" them out just a smidgin without marring your paint, with a small flathead screwdriver, and a rag against the surface you dont want paint damage. and try again. Usually does the trick

These are actually US made clips from 1981. :) You would think these would work out of the box.

Check out my thread problem on rear glass clips ( 68 gtx ). There was a lot of talk on this. I had to rework all my back clips so the trim would snap in right.

The cuts are not deep on some aftermarket clips. They dont go down far enough to let the trim to snap in.

Makes you want to take a rubber mallet and beat the crap out of them doesn't it. I feel your pain my Mopar brother.

Or you could do what all the previous owners did and just put a wood screw through the darn thing!

WHY did they all do this!!! :(

Because back in the day, expediency was the main thing, not collectability. :)

Used a screwdriver to bend the clips out a smidge and the trim popped right in. Thanks again!

Made in china
