I need 4 black foam blocks for the underside of my new Fiberglass hood, but can't seem to locate where to buy them from.
Any contacts would be greatly appreciated.

I used outside closures used on metal buildings. Cut to length and glued in place. I was a little concerned if they would hold up to the under hood temperatures. I tested with a heat gun before installing them. No problem!

Thanks, any pictures of this stuff you're talking about or a link?

Any business that sells metal perlins, sheets, etc. Down here we have Metal Mart, Mueller, Butler Buildings. If you can't find any let me know. I can mail you a couple pieces.
BTW. It's 1"x1 1/2"

Left over pieces of roll bar padding. The cheap stuff, not the nhra legal stuff.

i dont think i have any left...if you dont have a Joann Fabrics in your neck of the woods, id be happy to go to my local store and buy some and ship it to you.

Thanks for the nice gesture Al.
Looks like its cheaper to buy online than buying it in the store.
I can just order it myself. It's $19.99 online.

SSR, way back when I got mine from a fabric store too. Worked just fine on my steel hood as well as the small fiberglass hood from my Arrow. As I recall there were a few different densities. Maybe go get the "feel" of some samples before ordering. Good luck! Bill

Bill, I ordered some from my aquarium wholesaler and will be arriving tomorrow. Hopefully its the right density.
If not, I'm going to order the stuff from
Joann fabrics.
$19.99 for a block of it should work out fine. Thanks

Hope so. By the way your suggestion from last spring regarding spray adhesive on the inside of the slicks, has worked out fantastic! Almost no loss of air. In fact don't think I've lost any since I parked the car last fall. Best of luck with your "fleet".

We have a huge sales place about 10 minutes from my home, called the Foam-Factory. They have everything!!!!

Al, the foam I got from my fish wholesaler was way too course, so I just ordered a sheet from JoAnn Fabrics today and also got a 20% discount. Maybe I'll have enough left for my Super Stock seat. Thanks again

SSR, for once I got it right. The product variability can be important. Wish I always knew that.

I did find some old foam, with the right texture and density but not enough for what I was trying to accomplish.
Glad you got it right.

Google search 'where to buy foam' and all kinds of places will show up including Target and Home Depot. Even shipping companies use it. I got 6" rounds and cut them to length for mine years ago and they came out of boxes that mechanical seals for process pumps came in.....

Yes those foam pieces from the mechanical seals for process pumps are where I got them the 1st time free.
Target and home depot have the wrong texture foam pieces/ No bueno.

What about new foam from a fuel cell?
Used foam? :D I would think that foam would be a bit course for laying a hood on top of the car if that's what is was to be used for. It could always be rinsed with solvent and then soap and water if it was to be used...
