Like the title says which shifter do you like best? I have no experience with any of the aftermarket shifters, So I'm looking to you guys for some opinions. Do you prefer the gate or ratchet style shifters and which model(s)?

I've had a few of them over the years,
in my street cars I've liked/partial to the Quicksilver from B&M,
I've got one to put in my current 68 RR too
{IF I ever find a decent 68-70 B-Body console, that's not worth it's weight in gold pricing},
it's not a high $$$ piece, certainly probably better shifters out there now too, but it's easy to use,
it always worked well, had one in my last 68 RR for over 10 years with no issues,
as long as you keep the cable away from the exhaust...

For racing I'd use something with a manual reverse lock out....

I use a B&M pro ratchet. Honestly, it shifts so nice and the throw is so short and precise, it's the last shifter I ever buy for the car.

I had a Hurst Pro-matic ratchet shifter in a bracket car which is basically their bottom line shifter . I think it's the same mechanism as the B&M Quicksilver. Once I figured out how to keep the cable from heat damage, it worked great. I like the ratchet style because it eliminates the dreaded first to third shift. I know a lot of guys with the B&M Pro Ratchet and like HT413, they love it.
I went with a PPP on my latest car mostly for its rear entry cable ability. It's an inline shifter, not a ratchet type but I really like it a lot. Yeh, it's expensive but in this case you do get what you're paying for.

I like the B&M Quicksilver too.

Thanks folks. I'm really surprised everyone favors the B&M quicksilver. Definitely wasn't one I was even looking at. How does the reverse lock out work on that quicksilver, pull up/down on the shifter I assume? I was really eyeing the Hurst Pistol grip quarter shifter but it was more than I'd like to spend by time you buy the $60 cover...
The Cheetah was one of the other ones I thought about.

I've used PPP in my last 3 cars. No disappointments.

I have had the B&M Megashifter in my charger for over a decade now. I absolutely love the way it works and looks. Quick precise shifts, which I guess isn't difficult for an automatic, but hasn't done me wrong.

Hurst Quarterstick Pistol Grip Handle. I really like it.

Vertigate for the hard core stuff and Comp Plus for the street....oh wait, you're asking about shifters for an automatic. Never mind.

I have a B & M quick silver and am happy now that I found a decent route for the cable.

Hurst Quarterstick Pistol Grip Handle. I really like it.
Thats the one I like, but it seems like it's possible to go from 3rd to 1st or even neutral if your not careful?

.....and they're a pain in the *** to put into reverse or park.

I'm also partial to the Quicksilver, I like the fact that there's no goofy levers to reach for but instead you lift the whole shifter for the lockout. I ran one until I went to a standard and loved it!

I Never really had the Problem, But I am not Really a Racer.

The only thing I don't like about them is the 350$ price, Then you half too pay another 70 For the Aluminum Cover for it.

another vote for the Quicksilver. Classy looks that compliment a nice interior, solid shifts & a firm feel. I love mine. I've had 3 B&M shifters (a mega & a Star) and a Hurst Promatic (which was garbage) over the years. The Quicksilver is by far the best I've had my hand on.

I have never been a fan of a ratchet shifter. I like my shifter posistion to move so I can tell what gear its in just looking at it. Myself I love the B&M Pro Stick as its so easy to use and works great at the track. Ron
