Ok I have a 77 Cordoba with a 400 in it. The Lean-burn has been removed and a factory conversion kit installed buy previous owner(he owned the local Chrysler dealership). I have a MP distributer that came off of a different 400 I am going to make into a stroker down the road. My question is what are the differences of the two distributers, if any? They both are vac. advance units. Would the MP unit have lighter advance springs in it maybe? They both look the same when looking at the top of the distributers. Thanks.

Thanks for the input. I put the MP distributer in, as it should be the performance based distributer.

They should both be mp distributors they have a adjustable vacuum advance you adjust it through the vacuum advance on the dist with a small allen wrench .You can probably look on line and find out what size if you don't have the instructions ,

I really don't know. The number on the factory distributor is 3874101 and comes back as OEM and the MP distributor has number 3690431 and comes back as a Mopar Performance. All I know is I still have the Lean-burn computer on my air cleaner housing, but it is unhooked.

I think the only difference is the Mopar Performance distributor works with a 2 prong ballast. But don't quote me!
But I believe either will work fine for you.

I thought the only difference between a stock and mp distributor is the springs and weights, it has a more aggressive performance curve to it. At least that's my understanding.

That is my feeling too. That is why I put the MP distributor in.

basically stock and MP units are the same kind, with just the ammount of mechanical advance difference ( and rotor is about 90º degrees off ), being adjustable

springs can be used in stock and MP units the same
