The seals and gaskets on the original heater box (no A/C) on my '72 SSP project car were all disintegrated when I took things apart for a re-build. Does anyone know which side of the box uses that white rope seal in the first foto? I guess it could go on that metal plate that the blower motor bolts to on the firewall side, or I guess it could go on the passenger side where plastic meets plastic. The blue tape in the one foto is where there is a built-in channel for a raised portion of the corresponding piece fits into the second half to insure a perfect fit. I don't see where any gasket would be necessary in those blue tape areas. Thank you.

First, I will say I'm not sure. It makes sense for the rope seal to go between the blower & the firewall AND where the box meets the firewall inside the car in order to have a somewhat air tight seal. On my '70 I replaced the box-to-firewall (inside car) with window foam seal & I have seen a "black rope" on salvage yard blower motors I've pulled. Hope this helps.

The seal goes around the perimeter of the second picture, Dibbons

Ok so now i still wonder if the rope seal is used on the male/female channel areas that i marked with blue masking tape in the third foto?

The 2 on the left of the photo, yes, the single or 3rd on the right, no
